These are pictures from the 2001 retreat. I keep calling it the YAA retreat, since that's what it was called the first year. I don't even remember exactly what the acronym stands for. Young Adult Alternative retreat perhaps. No matter though. In this picture, we have a beautiful bend in the Little Red Deer river. There's quite a few paths and nice places to walk around Camp Valaqua where the YAA retreat is held.

The YAA retreat is a great opportunity for me (as a city dweller) to take some interesting night photos. It's also a great opportunity for some star gazing under the beautiful night sky. There's a road that leads up to a clearing from the camp. It's a bit scary to walk along in the dark, yet still quite fun. :) In case you can't tell, this is a picture of the big dipper.

Here's a bunch of the camp goers standing around. Of note is my good friend Chris (on left) and my sister Debbie (on right).

Look! He's walking on water!

There has been some good worship and other singing at the previous retreats. I look forward to this once again.

This is the faith retreat center where we stayed one(?) year before. It's a neat little place for a small retreat. The YAA retreat outgrew its little home in the woods.

2001 was the year of the epic foosball tournament. Here we can see Debbie and Brian playing.

Chris and his teammate are engaged in an epic battle against the opposing little plastic minions.

Just a glimpse of some of the high quality drama we were treated to that year.
This is a great song. To sum it up, "Bob, it's the name you don't want." If the movie doesn't play correctly by clicking on it, you can simply download it by right clicking and saving it to disk. From there, it should play just fine if you have any video player capable of playing quicktime movies.
The speaker at the retreat sang us some good ol' blues.

Another night picture. Long exposure photography is quite fun. It almost looks light out, but let me assure you that it was quite dark.

Ping pong is one of the many activities available at the retreat. Some of the other wild activities include sleeping, eating, and breathing. Did I mention the outdoor hot tub?

2048x1536
Sometime's the right thing to do is to just sit around the fire. These people have it all figured out.

I'm squishing your head! Or rather, somebody else is about to squish mine.

2048x1536
A fantastic action shot. Just take a gander at how that tree is flying towards the water in such a phenomenal arc.

No trip would truely be complete without me standing around in the cold taking pictures. Here's Chris, and his twin brother evil Chris.

In this picture we can see the human referred to as Patrick on the left, and his identical clone on the right. These pictures were brought to you by the number 2, the letter "long exposure photography" and the other letter "flashlight shining in face."
The final goal in the foosball tournament. Such incredible action! Moments later, the winners received their prize of gummy snakes in styrofoam cups.
The messenger informs the princess that a visitor has arrived for her. She asks what the visitor wants. "Your hand," he replies. "Just my hand!?" she exclaims.
Curt the beautiful princess meets the suitor at the gate. Upon seeing her ravishing beauty, the suitor decides to make off with the gate instead.
